ABG Sampling

Introduction

The ABG sampling skills session aims to introduce students to:

  • In indications and contraindications of ABG collection

  • The relevant anatomy involved

  • The procedure of performing ABG sampling

  • The potential complications of arterial puncture

This session can be easily combined with the US Guided Cannulation session. Ultrasound machines can be used in the session to both familiarise students with use of ultrasounds, and aid in the identification of relevant anatomy.

It can be taught in 1 hours

Teaching approach

As with all modules, familiarise yourself with the NPMT principles & check out the facilitator guide.
