The Acute Kidney Injury tutorial session seeks to give medical students a good approach to recognizing, investigating and the initial steps in managing AKI on the wards.

Teaching approach

As with all modules, familiarise yourself with the NPMT principles.

The module seeks to teach students how to:

  1. Understand the approach to basic investigation and initial management

  2. Recognise the importance of a medication review for patients with AKI

  3. Recognise patients who may need ICU involvement and consideration of dialysis for acute renal failure
