To be able to identify abnormal findings during a systems review of the newborn
To be able to communicate the findings effectively and sensitively with parents or carers
Tips & Tricks:
The neonate examination exposes students to often unfamiliar conditions and unfindings, ensure there is adequate time to cover everything or even conduct the module over two sessions!
It is recommended that this tutorial is supported by practice examinations on real neonates- this is often done best as a subsequent session to allow for knowledge consolidation
