Teaching approach

As with all modules, familiarise yourself with the NPMT principles.

This module teaches students how to evaluate and implement initial management of infections and the septic patient. Despite its frequency and high mortality sepsis is often under-recognized and under-treated. This session aim to give students a solid understanding of the Sepsis Pathway, the NSW Health Sepsis Kills programme and initial management of the septic patient.

The module seeks to teach students how to:

1. Understand the definitions of sepsis and using the SAGO charts to recognise those at risk
2. Understand the Sepsis Kills Program : Recognise, Resucitate, Refer
3. Be aware of and understand the Adult Sepsis Pathway . Using the basic algorithm of ABCDEFG
