Introduction
Oxygen therapy is widely used throughout the hospital and by certain patients in the community, and there are multiple devices that may be used to deliver it. An understanding of the indications, advantages, and limitations of each device is an important part of clinical practice. This tutorial provides an overview of the commonly used devices from nasal prongs to non-invasive ventilation.

2. Describe the possible harms of supplemental oxygen
3. Describe the different simple oxygen delivery devices available
4. Understand the difference between a fixed performance and variable performance oxygen delivery device
5. Explain the benefits and indications of High Flow Nasal Prongs (HFNP)
6. Understand the difference between oxygenation and ventilation
7. Describe in basic terms the use of Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV)
Tips & Tricks on running an effective session:
Using a PowerPoint with images of the devices or bringing along example devices to the tutorial will help students better recognise the device in the future
Don’t get too caught up on the physiology behind oxygen toxicity – it is enough for the students to know that it can have negative effects
A quick review of concepts such as oxygenation vs ventilation, PEEP may be necessary before discussing NIV
