  • Identify the anatomy 

  • Identify clinical presentation 

  • Discuss differential diagnosis 

  • Describe relevant investigations 

  • Discuss management and follow up 

  • Identify possibly complications

Tips & Tricks on running an effective session:

  • Use diagrams when describing the anatomy and Salmon-Goodsall’s rule 

  • Keep the lesson interactive by asking students to name different parts of the anatomy 

  • When discussing the clinic presentation it would be helpful to use a case example 

  • Important to stress early surgical review and intervention when reviewing a patent with anorectal disease
